She said, "Yes!"

Proposal and engagement photography is one of the most exciting kinds of portrait photography: where is that perfect spot for the "proposer" to get down on one knee? What background/ environmental surroundings best showcase those 60 seconds (which feel like 6,000 seconds for the subjects yet just 0.6 seconds for the photographer, right?!)? What angle will best show the ring? Be sure to capture her reaction! Is my ISO correct? Will she say, "yes"?

These are just a few of the
questions and elements the photographer needs to carefully examine and prepare for (which can certainly be nerve-wracking and we're not even the ones asking for someone's hand in marriage!).
I tend to have Eminem's 8-mile soundtrack playing in my head during these photoshoots: "if you had one shot, one opportunity...". That's about right! I don't think, "hey, can you do that again for me? - I missed the shot." will go over well with the couple. But all of this is what makes the photoshoot exciting and magical!

To be in that moment - with the same heightened levels of nerves and excitement as the "proposer" - is what tells me that I'm right where I'm supposed to be and that I'm ready to capture the moment. And, most importantly, I am going to produce images and pictures of the engagement that will be cherished - not only with the couple but with their family, friends and children - for years to come. Are you ready to pop the question? Let's do this!
